A TESOL/TEFL certified, highly creative and passionate middle school English language tutor, I specialise in writing (essays and summaries), speaking, critical thinking, and reading/comprehension skills coaching. I use active listening, customized lessons, studying tips, and timely feedback to help students learn better, improve faster, and score higher in examinations. I’ve been guiding IGCSE, IELTS and Cambridge FCE students mostly on one-on-one basis for 10 years already.

My main pastime is reading books of all sorts, particularly sci-fi and fantasy novels. I strongly believe that the role of English language in learning and communicating (either in the realm of science or arts/humanities) cannot be emphasised enough. English to me is truly a lifestyle and a life skill, not merely a subject.

My teaching approach includes four crucial elements as follows:
– My creativity and resourcefulness in adapting lessons beyond textbooks
(i.e. online resources and social media) and setting teaching themes to
enhance engagement, impact and meaningfulness, as well as to stimulate
curiosity and learning.
– Early remedial work and progress tracking – my lessons involve
continuous diagnostic testing and active observation with instant
feedback to effectively identify students’ weaknesses to improve on and
also strengths to boost further.
– Results-oriented or mission-based teaching – I prioritize on each
student’s understanding and application on what has been taught, so
seeking timely feedback and correcting mistakes are imperative in my
approach.
– Customised lessons – I tailor my lessons to account for each individual’s
learning pace, topics of interest and/or relevance, to optimize learning
outcomes and achieve practicality.
