medium of instruction
The school uses Chinese as the main language of instruction
School-wide language policy: The school determines the teaching language according to students’ abilities, needs and learning benefits. School teachers have completed professional training from the Education Bureau on consolidating language and subject learning, including courses such as DOLAACEE and ILLIPS. Except for English, mathematics, and science (Second 3 includes biology, chemistry, and physics), all subjects in junior high schools are currently taught in the mother tongue, supplemented by English; while mathematics and science (Second 3 includes biology, chemistry, and physics) are taught in the mother tongue. The teaching language is set for each class to increase students' opportunities to use English, strengthen the language environment for learning English, and enhance students' confidence and motivation to learn. In high schools, more subjects are taught in English and students are allowed to choose the appropriate teaching language. The school attaches great importance to training students to master "biliteracy and three languages". English courses at all levels are taught in small groups for some teaching sessions, and foreign English teachers are employed. Chinese and English liberal arts subjects in high schools are studied in groups according to ability, and the teacher-student ratio is reduced to improve the quality of learning and teaching; Mandarin subjects in Form 1 are also studied in small groups.
