I have worked as a private tutor and coach in Hong Kong for four(4) years focusing on English language and personal development, depending on the client’s needs. My clients have been adults (over age 18) so far, and I am confident that I am able to support secondary students in form 4 and higher.

My independent work as a tutor and coach comes after a 17-year career in universities as a research scientist. I was educated in the United States, where I attended high school and university and completed a doctoral degree in chemistry. After several jobs in the United States and Europe, I came to Hong Kong in 2016 to work in a local university until 2019. I remain here as an independent tutor for advanced English language reading and writing and coach for career paths, leadership, and effective communication.

I am able to help clients master English language reading and writing, as well as more complex subjects such as biology and chemistry. I also help students prepare to take the SAT exam in preparation for applying to universities in the USA. I am systematic about assessing students’ starting points, creating engaging and effective learning plans as well as supplementary exercises, and assessing progress. I always foster a positive and encouraging environment where people can learn through trials, mistakes, and celebrating strong efforts and small wins.

I am native and professional in English and conversationally fluent in Cantonese and able to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
