I was born in Canada and completed my high school and first degree in Canada. I moved back to Hong Kong in 2000 and graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of Hong Kong and qualified as a practicing solicitor since 2006.
I was a private English tutor for international school children aged from 4 to 8 back in my law school years, where I tailored lesson plans by incorporating creative writing, role play, storytelling, games, etc. to meet the needs of my students. My weekly volunteer work as an English tutor at my church for the past 4 years has further strengthened my ability to engage with learners of various ages (from 6 to 16) and background.
In my previous role as a corporate and commercial lawyer, I regularly delivered training/presentation/seminar to diverse audiences, honing my communication skills and ability to convey complex information and concepts clearly. And from these experiences, I realized the joy in designing teaching materials and training plans, and the fulfilment in sharing knowledge and fostering a passion for learning in others. My experience as a lawyer has trained me to maintain regular communication with clients or stakeholders, hence allows me to understand the importance of maintaining regular communication with parents and colleagues to keep them informed about progresses of students.
I am a native English and Cantonese speaker and fluent in Mandarin. I believe my patience, calm demeanor, and cheerful attitude are essential qualities in the education of young students. These traits create a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel safe and valued, allowing them to engage more freely in their learning and to build confidence.
I’ve reached a point in my career where I am seeking a change. I am eager to leverage my skills and knowledge in a way that is more meaningful and impactful. I am looking for opportunities that align with may passion and allow me to make a positive influence. I am eager to contribute my passion and dedication to helping young children thrive and develop their potential.
