Six DSE exam-taking tips + useful teaching materials

Paper 1 (Part A) consists of 36 multiple choice questions, while Part B has 10 long questions and 1 essay question. Ideally, students should spend one minute on each multiple-choice question. But if that's not possible, he recommends spending no more than 45 minutes on all multiple-choice questions, leaving 1 hour and 45 minutes to solve Part B.

講真,DSE 生物呢科,好多人以為背多啲就搞掂,但睇實際數字,每年攞到 Level 5 以上嘅考生得返大約 16% 左右,同化學、物理比起嚟,Bio 嘅「高分人數」其實冇想像中咁多。問題喺邊?唔係唔勤力,係方向錯晒。

DSE 生物 4 份卷策略拆解

Paper 1A(MC,36 題)

呢個部分最容易攞分,但都最多人輕敵。重點唔係「識唔識」,係「睇唔睇穿 trap」。考評局成日喺「所有以下都啱,除咗…」類題目入面,擺一啲睇落好似啱但其實亂噏嘅選項。操 PP 嗰陣要養成習慣:每題畀自己 40 秒,超過就跳。

Paper 1B(短答題,Structured)

全港平均失分率最高嘅一份,樣本統計 42% 失分率*。Point form 唔會畀分,畀分係睇有冇 biological terms 同有冇 link。例如答 enzyme 題,寫「enzyme 會加快反應」畀 0 分,寫「enzyme 降低 activation energy, 所以反應速率增加」先畀 2 分。

Paper 2(Elective,2 選 1)

大部分學校揀 Human Physiology 或 Applied Ecology。呢份卷好多 essay-style 題,要寫 10-15 行。最好用「點例說」公式:定義 → 機制 → 例子 → 意義。

Paper 3(School-Based Assessment,SBA)

雖然 SBA 佔比減咗,但做得差都會拉低 overall。

防伏位一:背咗 definition 唔等於識答題

呢個係全港 Bio 考生最大伏。考評局近幾年專登少考「What is X?」呢類直接問 definition 嘅題,改為考「Explain how X leads to Y」。你背到識唸都冇用,要識用 X 解釋 Y。

防伏位二:Diagram 題畀分位

好多學生畫 diagram 冇 label、冇 title、冇 scale,自動扣 2-3 分。記住:每個 diagram 至少要有 title + axis label + 關鍵結構名。

防伏位三:實驗題唔好淨寫 procedure

考評局計分 rubric 要求你寫埋「點樣確保公平」(fair test)同「點樣量度 result」。單寫步驟得一半分。用 Miss L 嘅 IV-DV-CV 框架,每題起碼多攞 2 分。

防伏位四:唔好齋操 past paper

出面好多補習社叫你「操晒 10 年卷就得」。錯。Bio syllabus 2019 年改過,2012-2018 年嘅卷有好多題目範圍已經唔考。操錯年份嘅題係浪費時間。
