講真，東涌區嘅補習市場同港九新界其他區好唔同。成個區得幾個屋苑，學校都集中喺映灣園、逸東嗰邊，但英文補習需求一直都偏高。點解？因為呢區有唔少家長喺機場做嘢，自己英文底子好，所以對仔女英文要求特別高。但偏偏東涌交通位置特殊，願意入區教嘅私人導師唔算多。
根據 GETUTOR 2024-2026 年後台配對紀錄*，東涌區英文補習需求佔全港英文配對約 4.2%，樣本約 340 宗。當中約 63% 係小學至初中家長提前為 DSE 鋪路，另外約 37% 係中四至中六急住谷 grade 嘅 DSE 考生。平均配對時間去到 4.1 小時，比全港英文平均嘅 3.8 小時慢少少，反映東涌願意入區教嘅導師真係緊絀。

Miss R（按導師私隱要求使用化名，導師資歷已獲 GETUTOR 平台認證）— 香港大學文學士畢業（主修翻譯），IELTS 8.5 分。曾任職國際學校英文科助教兩年，之後轉做全職私補，主力補東涌同荃灣區 Band 1 英中學生。教學年資 7 年，累計教過超過 40 個 DSE 英文學生，當中 13 個最終攞到 Level 5 或以上。
Miss R 分享：「好多同學成日搞錯一樣嘢——以為 Writing 高分嘅關鍵係寫到好深嘅字，其實考評局啲 marker 一日睇幾百份卷，佢哋要嘅係 clear logic 加少少 sophistication，唔係你背 GRE 字。我教學生係用三階段法：planning 5-7 分鐘、writing 25-30 分鐘、checking 5-7 分鐘。planning 呢步最多人跳，但係最影響 coherence 嘅一步。」
呢套方法外面補習社好少教，因為大班冇時間逐個同學改 plan。Miss R 仲補充：「我成日叫學生揀題嗰陣記住套用近期熱話同代入角色。例如 2023 年 Paper 2 問 cultural heritage，你可以套返近兩年本地討論保育建築嘅新聞，即刻有料入肚，唔使齋寫老生常談。」

Miss R 指出，佢接觸過嘅東涌學生，最常犯以下幾個錯：
伏位一：Listening Part A 聽唔明就停低諗。考評局嘅錄音一次過 run 晒，你停低諗一條，後面幾條都走晒。正確做法係聽唔明即刻跳，保持節奏。GETUTOR 導師教嘅「捨棄策略」就係呢個意思——寧願放棄一兩分，都唔好連累成份卷。
伏位二：Writing 亂用 idioms 同 phrasal verbs。好多家長以為仔女寫得多 idioms 就係高分，錯！Marker 見到用錯嘅 idiom 會直接扣 language 分。Miss R 嘅建議係：「用嗰啲你 100% 肯定用法嘅 idiom，唔好炒字。寧願用準確嘅中級字詞，都唔好用錯嘅高級字。」
伏位三：Speaking Group Discussion 搶住講或者全程靜。考評局想見到 interaction，唔係 monologue 表演。搶住講會扣 interaction 分，全程靜當然仲弊。中庸之道係：每輪發言 30-45 秒，間唔中主動 invite 其他考生（例如「What do you think, candidate B?」），呢招幾乎每個 5** 學生都用。

根據 GETUTOR 後台數據，東涌區英文學生由 Level 3 拉去 Level 5 嘅平均週期係 2.9 個月*，前提係每星期最少補 1 堂並完成導師派嘅功課。
一位東涌映灣園嘅中五學生，就讀區內 Band 2 英中，配對前 Mock 英文得 Level 3（Writing 成個死穴，Speaking 又怕醜）。經 GETUTOR 配對到 Miss R 之後，每星期補 1 堂半小時，主力攻 Writing 同 Speaking，並用 Miss R 嘅 planning 三階段法做咗 11 篇 Past Paper 作文。3 個月後 Mock 升到 Level 4，最終 DSE 攞到 Level 5，成功入到心水 degree course。

大班最大問題係 Writing 同 Speaking 冇辦法逐個改。你寫十篇作文，大班老師可能只會派個 model answer 畀你睇。私補就可以逐段同你講邊度唔夠 coherence、邊個字用錯 collocation。對 Writing 同 Speaking 呢啲重 feedback 嘅 Paper，私補優勢明顯。
GETUTOR 導師普遍建議中四中五每星期 1 堂（1.5 小時）就夠，中六考試季可以加到 2 堂。太密其實冇時間消化，反而浪費錢。
東涌區英文補習雖然配對時間比市區長少少（4.1 小時），但試堂後繼續率都有 77%，反映只要揾啱導師，學生同家長滿意度唔低。
